Skywatchers O

“It’s like I’m captured in time, so they can never ever forget me. I feel very honored.”

– Senator Hotel resident and Skywatchers artist Janice Blacknight

Skywatchers is an ongoing ABD Productions storytelling process that brings together residents of vibrant and vulnerable neighborhoods with professional artists for the creation and performance of free interactive public art installations. The process highlights the fundamental importance of telling the stories and histories that shape our lives, especially stories that are often neglected or ignored.

Check out the video of our premiere June 10, 2012 Skywatchers performance and the process behind Skywatchers:

This performance marks the initiation of an ongoing partnership between Bluethenthal, Community Housing Partnership, Luggage Store Gallery, and Tenderloin residents. Featuring sound design by Gretchen Jude, spontaneous choir by Melanie DeMore, and guest appearance by the Embodiment Project.
